"Prom" is the fifth episode in the third season of the Lifetime series Drop Dead Diva, that first aired on the 24th of July, 2011.

Synopsis[]

Jane represents a lesbian couple suing for the right to attend their prom. Elsewhere, Jane learns her relationship with Dr Kendal is not exclusive, Kim and Grayson take on Hank the bailiff's suit against his mail-order bride and Stacy is jealous when Fred is offered a commercial gig.

  • This episode was inspired by the real life 2010 Itawamba County School District prom controversy, when an openly lesbian student was denied entry into her school prom. Constance McMillen, who was the subject of the controversy, has an uncredited appearance in this episode as a bailiff.
  • This episode features very prominently LGBTQIA+ actors, including Wanda Sykes, Clay Aiken, and Lance Bass.
